Barcelona was founded about 2,000 years ago around the year of 15 B.C. It was founded by
people named the Phoenicians and the Carthaginians on the Mediterranean coast between two
rivers. When Barcelona was first founded it was not yet named Barcelona. Back then the name
for Barcelona was Barcino. Myth ahs it that Barcino, the original name for Barcelona was named
after the Cartaginian ruler, Hamilcar Barca. Thats just one of the famous myths.
